In detail

IMAT (International Medical Admissions Test)

The IMAT is the entrance exam for English-taught Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine programmes at public universities in Italy. It is taken by students from the UAE and across the world who want to study medicine in Europe without needing to know Italian at the start.

The test is conducted once a year, usually in September, and registration is done through the official Italian admissions portal. It has 60 multiple-choice questions to be solved in 100 minutes, and the majority of the paper tests school-level science. Now Classes helps students prepare with live online classes, topic-wise practice and regular timed mock tests.

The IMAT is for students who have completed or are about to complete Grade 12 with a strong science background, mainly Biology and Chemistry. Students from the UAE following CBSE, IB, British or American curricula can apply. Exact eligibility rules and documents differ by university and year, so we guide you through the official requirements before you register. Image caption: Live, board-specific

Test structure & scoring

The paper is heavily science-based: 23 questions in Biology, 15 in Chemistry and 13 in Physics and Maths, plus 5 on logical reasoning and 4 on reading and general knowledge. Correct answers earn marks, wrong answers carry a small penalty and unanswered questions score zero, so smart attempting matters as much as knowledge. We train you in both accuracy and time management.
